System Engineer with a background in Microsoft technologies, focusing on technical support, maintenance and project work. Besides general Microsoft support services, this role is also required to provide specialist support for Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager.

 

Primary Purpose and Scope

 

This specific position is for a customer focused and passionate Systems Engineer who will provide an exemplary level of technical support to our valued customers, as a key member of the Kloud Managed Services Team. You will be responsible for responding to and resolving technical issues from being initial point of contact, diagnosing the issue, right through to 3rd level support. Your level of engagement will cover phone based and remote support.

 

In being an advocate of technology, you will have a varied and technically challenging role, being involved in operational support, technology deployment, and supporting desktop and ICT infrastructure of the customer. You will produce results as both an individual contributor and a team player.

 

Key responsibilities

To be effective and successful in this role, you must possess strong organisational skills, exceptional communication skills, customer relationship and process management skills to compliment your solid background in technical support.

You will review customer problems, prepare resolution strategies, undertake root cause analysis and restoration. From time to time you will also need to review customer requirements for changes and advise on end-to-end technical solutions—from design through to deployment.

 

Technical Skills

  • Approx. 4 – 6 years of IT experience, including at least 4 years of experience in a Technical Support role
  • Broad experience managing and supporting Microsoft based networks including desktop SOE’s, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange and SQL
  • The main product focus for this position is Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager, therefore you will need to have solid FIM exposure
  • Exposure to Office 365 or a deep desire to learn would be highly beneficial
  • Installing and performing changes to virtual servers and software
  • Experience supporting Hypervisors such as VMWare or HyperV
  • Experience with patch management and change management processes
  • Experience working at a Service Desk and an understanding of ITIL processes
  • Experience with the Microsoft System Centre suite of solutions is desired (SCCM/SCOM)
  • A strong desire to learn more about Cloud platforms and technologies
  • Experience developing and updating technical documentation
  • As part of your technical experience and knowledge, you must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge in at least three of the following technologies: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft SQL, or Microsoft System Centre products.

 

Soft Skills:

  • The ability to think strategically, define and resolve customer problems and work unsupervised to deliver technical support and solutions in complex environments
  • Exceptional English; written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce quality documentation
  • Exposure to various methodologies, industry best practices and technologies such as ITIL

Reporting Relationships and Key Interactions

 

This position reports to the National Services Delivery Manager and has key relationships with customer, internal Practice Leads, and the greater Kloud internal community.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • University Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to position
  • Microsoft Certifications would be extremely beneficial
